Etteplan provides a wide range of software expertise for Cimcorp

The fundamental part of Cimcorp’s systems are wide-area gantry robots that can manage a range of operations. In close collaboration with Cimcorp, Etteplan has been working on developing the robot HMI solution with web technologies. Etteplan has provided Cimcorp expertise in the fields of software architecture, service design, UX and UI design, and frontend and backend development.

Etteplan, as an expert in the industrial digitalization field, has also provided valuable knowledge and insights during the development.

“With modern web technologies, we have built a highly modular architecture, that supports dynamically configurable user interfaces. That speeds up the frontend development for different robot set-ups and helps to customize the solution to the end customer's needs,” explains Arto Salminen, Software Architecture Lead at Etteplan.

Keys to success: User-centric design methods and seamless collaboration

The work has started with creating a vision for a web-based HMI device control solution by utilizing design thinking methods. The work continues with Etteplan experts being an integral part of Cimcorp’s software development team.

During the process, Cimcorp's UI Design System, utilizing a micro frontend architecture, has been designed and implemented with React. The design system will support the future development of digital solutions.

”UX and UI design work has been done in close collaboration with the customer, technical team, and other stakeholders. User-centric design methods, combined with seamless collaboration, have ended up being a true enabler for our success,” elaborates Heli Sillanpää, Senior UX Designer at Etteplan.

The solutions will help Cimcorp customers boost their competitive edge

Increased situational awareness aims also to reduce downtime on production lines through ease of use and time needed for customer support.

Cimcorp pleased with the strong and flexible collaboration

“Cimcorp has a long and successful history of co-operation with Etteplan in many design areas of industrial automation. It was logical to expand working on new areas as Cimcorp grow from device supplier to system integrator,” says Jyrki Anttonen, Technology Director at Cimcorp.
