Etteplan develops a remote monitoring app as an integral part of a Digital Therapeutics (DTx) solution with Orla DTx

Orla DTx’s mission is to become one of the leading digital therapeutics developers. The company develops Digital Therapeutic solutions to treat serious disease together with their partners in Pharma, Diagnostics and MedTech.

Orla DTx focuses on Digital Therapeutics solutions for the treatment of serious diseases. The company partners with pharma, diagnostics and MedTech players to identify high risk populations where Digital Therapeutics (DTx) have potential to improve patient and economical outcomes. The company then designs and develops DTx solutions and demonstrates efficacy and safety through clinical trials.

Orla DTx has developed two digital remote measurement solutions: Orla INR Remote Monitoring and Orla PEF Remote Monitoring. The solutions help healthcare professionals and patients by providing automatic measurement results from the measurement device through a mobile application developed and maintained by Etteplan.

The remote monitoring solutions can be for example used to monitor medication use or peak expiratory flow with asthma patients.

Etteplan provides the development and maintenance of the mobile application

The development of Orla DTx’s remote monitoring app was started in 2015 with Etteplan. Etteplan also provides maintenance for the application on iOS and Android. The mobile app communicates with the remote monitoring device through Bluetooth.

The app gathers information from remote monitoring devices as well as information reported by patients. The data is then managed and analyzed. The collection and management of the data enable data-driven decision making by healthcare professionals.

In addition, Etteplan has worked with Orla DTx to upgrade the look and feel of the application to make it more consistent with Orla DTx’s brand and fill accessibility requirements. Accessibility has been taken into account in the app development in other ways as well. The app follows accessibility guidelines and supports the use of screen readers and external keyboards.

The high-quality mobile application allows for an effective solution

By outsourcing app development and maintenance to Etteplan, Orla DTx has been able to focus on its core business. The app also makes the solution work in an intuitive and effective way with its automatic data transfer, analysis and output making Orla DTx’s customers’ life easier. The solution has already enhanced the treatment pathway of thousands of patients and saved both time and money – and above all, led to better treatment results.
